M'bour
M'Bour (or Mbour) is a town in the Thiès region of Senegal, about 80 kilometers south of Dakar, the capital city. It has a population of about 153,500 people (2002 Census). It is also where Vivre Ensemble's orphanage is located, where I spent my summer.
M'Bour is not quite a city, but not a village either. A major highway runs through it, most people live in buildings or houses rather than huts, and it has at least two banks and one gas station. M'Bour lies on the coast of Senegal, and one of its main industries is fishing.
